The Plastic Problem
Although convenient, petroleum-based plastics are polluting humans and the earth.
Plastics are clogging oceans, choking wildlife, and piling up in landfills where they take centuries to decompose. As they break down, they release microplastics that are now found in our food, water, and even human blood—linked to inflammation, hormone disruption, and other long-term health risks. The unchecked use of these plastics is not just an environmental issue, but a growing threat to human biology and well-being.
Hemp Plastic
Hemp-based bioplastics are compostable, plant-based alternatives to petroleum plastics. Made from renewable resources, they break down naturally in soil and marine environments—helping to reduce long-term pollution.
Hemp is also a carbon-sequestering crop, absorbing more CO₂ per acre than most plants. It requires little water, grows quickly, and improves soil health—making it one of the most sustainable raw materials available for packaging and product manufacturing.
These are tiny, pieces of plastic, about the size of short rice grains. But instead of being made from oil (like regular plastic), they’re made from a mix of natural plant fibers from hemp and a biodegradable material like corn-based plastic.
Think of them as eco-friendly building blocks—they get melted down and molded into things like containers, sunglasses, or utensils. Once discarded, they break down much faster and more safely than regular plastic.

An injection molding machine is used to mass-produce precise plastic components—including those made from biodegradable hemp-based materials.
Here’s how it works:
- The machine heats up the hemp plastic pellets until they reach a molten state.
- This liquid material is then injected under high pressure into a metal mold that defines the exact shape of the final product—such as a container lid, packaging tube, or component part.
- Once inside the mold, the material cools and solidifies, after which the finished part is ejected and ready for use.
This process is fast, efficient, and ideal for creating large volumes of uniform, high-quality parts.
